The Challenge
With the explosive growth of digital medical information, healthcare organizations face unprecedented challenges when it comes to data storage. Healthcare providers today must manage more than 30%  annual growth in storage; access and share patient information trapped in departmental silos; and comply with tighter regulations for data use, protection, and privacy. All of these challenges are  compounded by shrinking budgets and resource limitations. According to industry analysts, data  associated with medical images will grow by 42%, representing 35% of all information stored in 2015.1 Many providers are simply not equipped to handle this tidal wave of data. Traditional backup and archiving processes are not designed to handle such large quantities of data, leaving much of it unprotected.
